Hello blog land ive been neglecting you for a while, as ive been bogged down with the stresses and strains of running a kitchen! As my twitter followers will know i lost a chef last week, careless of me i know,anyway, id employed this kid a couple of months ago, he could talk the talk but could not walk the walk, a couple of times i stopped myself from ripping his head off as he was slow (Which is cool as hes only learning) but it was the answering back i could not handle, anyway i gave him the benefit of the doubt and let a couple of things ride with christmas coming up!
Little did i know, he came to me last fri at 5.40 we were just about to do around 100+ covers and asked for a word , he said he had just been offered a job there and then wanted to leave now but did not want to leave on bad terms!!
how can you not leave on bad terms? youve not given any notice amazing, just go i said and forget you ever worked here, as i will not give him a reference.
so then i interviewed a chef spent over an hour interviewing him, gave him a 4 hour trial, offered him the job got him the money he wanted shook hands said see you tomorrow and lo and behold tomorrow came and he never turned up! Why do people do that? why not ring say i dont want the job and we can move on! BLOODY CHEFS!
when i was young not working seemed glamerous and i remember this bow wow wow tune being out at the time of my dads redundency.
